Key Facts EDGE evolution (sometimes also called EDGE+ or EGPRS2) is an enhancement of the GSM/EDGE standard to increase the maximum data throughput of the existing GSM/EDGE network by means of minor modifications. The improvements include downlink dual carrier operation, higher-order modulation (16QAM, 32QAM) in combination with an optional higher symbol rate and turbo coding, latency improvements, and the use of RX diversity at the mobile station. Depending on the features applied, peak data rates of up to 1 Mbit/s will be achieved. The R&S®SMJ-K41 option extends the R&S®SMJ-K40 GSM/EDGE option to EDGE evolution.
  • Supports higher symbol rate (325 kHz) and normal symbol rate (270.833 kHz)
  • Higher-order modulation types: 16QAM, 32QAM
  • Mixed frames with GSM, EDGE and EGPRS2 slots in one frame (with same symbol rate per frame)
